The Film Commissions are non-profit entities whose goal is to guide and to assist in the work of audiovisual producers within their regions. The FCs disseminate relevant information on the natural, geographical, cultural, political and legal settings. They also liaise with suppliers and help in obtaining the permits required to begin production. The FCs are constantly updating their data and image banks to allow efficient search for locations, partners and investors. The main guidelines of their mandate are:
- To help in the search for a variety of locations, from deserted beaches, parties and sporting events to urban and high-tech scenarios;
- To promote and to market natural and urban scenarios, the technological complex and technical services available to the audiovisual sector
as well as the capability of the local level to take in film productions.
Promoting Tourism in Brazil
The Brazilian Film Commissions are public and/or private entities that, in addition to assisting both national and international producers, also play a
significant role in the advancement of local economies. They are actively involved in the attraction of transnational audiovisual productions to Brazil
and in the creation of potential subproducts of the audiovisual tourism sector, defined by the Ministry of Tourism as one of the pillars for the development of this sector.
The tremendous social, natural and geographical variety found in Brazil make it a country of contrasts and great diversity which is able to offer ideal locations for shooting all kinds of film productions. Cheap and competent labor, its mild climate and the congeniality of its people, make Brazil an ideal destination to produce movies, television series, video-clips and advertisements.
